Twine or piece of string
Green floral wire
Wire cutters
Fresh evergreen branches
Optional: wooden beads, pine cones, dried orange slices, faux berries, ribbon, or floral picks
Before anything else, grab a tape measure and decide how many feet of garland you’ll need for your porch, fireplace mantel, or staircase banister. This is your first step.
Lay everything out on an outdoor table or workspace. Make sure you wear gloves and then remove any broken ends or overly thick pieces. You can mix varieties for texture. Pine, cedar, fir, or spruce all work great.
Layer branches so they all face the same direction. Take a long piece of twine or strong wire and start connecting them one by one. Wrap the green floral wire around each section, pulling it tight so it holds together through the whole holiday season.
Once the greenery is secure, this is where the fun begins. You can tie on an extras like pine cones or floral picks.
Use nails, hooks, or more twine to secure it around your porch columns or on your mantel in yor living room. When attaching, make sure each end of the garland is tied tightly so it won’t slip.
