Six unconventional things I do as a homeschool mom of 5 (at least I think they are 🤷‍♀️)

Every homeschool is going to be different, and I don’t think there’s one right way to do this. Sometimes a curriculum genuinely isn’t a good fit. If the math isn’t working, change the math.

But I also think we’re constantly being sold something new and “better.” Sometimes it’s packaged so well that we forget that we already know how to do this. We don’t always need a new curriculum or system. Sometimes we just need to give what we’re already doing enough time to work or try it a different way.

And somewhere in all of it, I want to remember to actually enjoy my kids.

We can take homeschooling seriously without taking *ourselves* so seriously.

One of my favorite things about building a home library is filling it with books that aren’t just “good for children”. They’re actually just good books that I want to read too.

The kind of books worth reading at 8, 38, or 78. That’s what makes a good story.

Thrifting is just one of the ways I’ve built our home library over the years. I’ve learned which authors and illustrators to look for, which classics are always worth grabbing, and when a book is just too good to leave behind.
